Dynasty Fantasy Football Adds and Drops: KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Jacory Croskey-Merrit, and More

Sam Wallace breaks down the most added and dropped players in dynasty fantasy football leagues on Sleeper Fantasy, and how dynasty managers should approach each player.

Every league has its own ecosystem—its own unique set of managers, rules, nuances, and tendencies. You tend to measure everything you hear against your "league of record". Even so, it's helpful to take off the blinders and get a sense of what the general community is doing and how they feel about certain players.

Using Sleeper's "Trending Up" and "Trending Down" feature, here are the most added and dropped dynasty players this week.

Most Added Players in Dynasty Fantasy Football

LAC_chargers-logo.svgKeAndre Lambert-Smith - WR, Chargers

The Chargers made a few additions to their receiver room this offseason, but we'll take a closer look at KeAndre Lambert-Smith. Drafted in Round 5, he figures to compete for a role behind presumptive starters Ladd McConkey and Tre Harris.

After four seasons with Penn State, Lambert-Smith had a solid final season at Auburn when he tallied 50 receptions for 981 yards and eight TDs. His 19.6 yards per reception last year, along with his collegiate average of 15.4 yards per reception, show up in his 4.37 40-time (95th percentile).

Toss in the sudden retirement of Mike Williams, and there's a void in the deep-threat area of the passing attack.

The Chargers probably won't throw it enough to make more than a receiver or two fantasy viable, but there's a path for Lambert-Smith to haul in some beautiful Justin Herbert deep balls this season. Keep him on your dynasty radar for now or, better yet, throw him on your taxi squad and wait for the potential breakout in the future.

WAS_commanders-logo.svgJacory Croskey-Merritt - RB, Commanders

The Commanders added to their RB room when they snagged Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the seventh round.

On paper, Croskey-Merritt has an … interesting profile.

In 2023, he played in 12 games and tallied almost 1,200 rushing yards and scored 17 times on the ground. Then, in 2024, he played in just one game.

He played just 13 career collegiate games. Talk about a small sample size.

Croskey-Merritt is also a 24-year-old rookie.

With that in mind, what's all the excitement about? It all comes down to talent and opportunity.

Despite the limited body of work, he's a talented player who pops on film. He also finds himself behind an aging Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson on the depth chart. Assuming he locks down the RB3 job and makes the final roster, all it takes is an opportunity for him to find his way onto the field.

With training camp officially underway, we're already hearing positive reports about the huge impression this talented rookie is making.

For dynasty managers, he's a great target. Despite being the RB28 in our Rookie RB Model, his potential in a sneaky-good situation is worthy of a bench slot.

CLE_browns-logo.svgToa Taua - RB, Browns

Every so often, dynasty managers collectively chase a signing in the hopes that it turns into something when, in reality, there's very little chance of anything happening.

That's what's happening with RB Toa Taua, who recently signed with the Browns. He last played college football back in 2022 and then spent a few years in the USFL/UFL before landing with Cleveland this past week.

At minimum, the Browns have Quinshon Judkins, Jerome Ford, and Dylan Sampson ahead of Taua on the depth chart. I suppose there's a chance Taua earns some meaningful preseason snaps and makes a strong impression, but I'm fine leaving him on waivers in my own leagues.

GB_packers-logo.svgEmanuel Wilson - RB, Packers

Josh Jacobs might have led the way with 301 rushing attempts last season, but, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the Packers had another RB top 100 rushing attempts.

Emanuel Wilson (103 carries) carved out a nice role for himself by tallying 502 rushing yards (4.9 yards per carry) and scoring four TDs.

It remains to be seen if Jacobs will carry that large of a load in Year 2 with the Green & Gold, which could lead to additional opportunities for Wilson. Toss in an injury to a backfield mate (more on that below), and Wilson has earned himself a stash on your dynasty bench.

NYJ_jets-logo.svgJosh Reynolds - WR, Jets

If I were to ask you who the WR2 on the Jets was, you'd probably have to stop and think for a moment.

Well, it sounds like the job (currently) belongs to Josh Reynolds, who will look to carve out a role behind Garrett Wilson. We'll see how fantasy-viable Justin Fields can make anyone other than Wilson, but Reynolds does have experience on his side.

He's worthy of a bench stash if you have the space, but he shouldn't be near your starting lineup until he proves he can contribute on a consistent basis.

Most Dropped Players in Dynasty Fantasy Football

TEN_titans-logo.svgTreylon Burks - WR, Titans

Treylon Burks suffered a broken collarbone in practice, was waived by the Titans with an injury designation, and then wound up on injured reserve after he cleared waivers.

Talk about a tough week for a once-promising prospect.

Unfortunately, there's little reason to roster him at this point.

GB_packers-logo.svgMarShawn Lloyd - RB, Packers

A promising prospect, MarShawn Lloyd appeared in just one game as a rookie, and his second training camp isn't getting any better.

He recently suffered a groin injury, which adds to his already-growing list of injuries he's dealt with, which include hip, hamstring, and ankle issues.

Lloyd has some time to get healthy, but he'll need to fight for touches this season behind both Jacobs and Wilson.

NYJ_jets-logo.svgTyrod Taylor - QB, Jets

This is simply a market correction for Tyrod Taylor. He vaulted up the boards after Justin Fields (toe) went down with an injury, but has since come tumbling back down with Fields back on the … field.

All that said, Taylor is a nice handcuff to have if you roster Fields. He's a competent, game-managing veteran who can still pick up yards with his legs.

NE_patriots-logo.svgJa'Lynn Polk - WR, Patriots

As a rookie, second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk had about as bad of an inaugural season as you could imagine for the 37th overall selection.

He appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and finished with just 12 receptions.

Polk is currently recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and is expected to be ready for Week 1. The expected growth of Drake Maye and relatively open WR room means anyone can step up into a larger role this season, but managers would have liked to have seen more from Polk in Year 1.

I don't mind letting him go at this point, but this offense is one that I am closely monitoring in the coming weeks and months.
