The Buffalo Bills Meltdown Knows No Boundaries
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims, an epic meltdown in Buffalo, top-36 wide receiver rankings, NFL Mock Draft roundtable and more.
In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Hims:
I was fully prepared to discuss the Conference Championship games this morning, but I can’t turn my head away from the meltdown that has been unfolding in Buffalo over the past few days.
Things were already off the rails after the team fired Sean McDermott and promoted GM Brandon Beane following the team’s Divisional Round loss to the Broncos, but things really got out of hand during a press conference yesterday with Beane and Bills owner Terry Pegula.
First, Pegula admitted that he fired McDermott based on the results in Denver and with no input from Josh Allen.
I guess we should blame Brandin Cooks for McDermott’s firing because if he comes down with that ball, then he’s still their coach? Lol.
It’s also funny that the loss to Denver was apparently so shocking to the team despite them being road underdogs vs. the No. 1 team in the conference. Maybe, just maybe, the root of the issue goes back much further … perhaps to the GM who orchestrated the roster.
But it somehow got worse from there because then Terry blamed McDermott and the coaching staff for wanting to draft Keon Coleman and removed any blame from Beane.
It’s hard to imagine something more unprofessional and petulant than throwing a second-year player WHO IS STILL ON THE ROSTER under the bus just so you can absolve your patsy GM of any responsibility for putting together the worst WR room in the league.
As if it couldn’t get any better, there’s even pre-draft footage of Beane saying he’s excited that the Bills will have a chance to draft Coleman.
What a disaster. We’ll follow up once they find their next head coach scapegoat.

When the news came in that Mike McDaniel was going to take over as the OC for the LA Chargers, Charger fans and fantasy managers got to dreaming of what this beautiful offensive mind would do with Justin Herbert at the controls—Kendall has thoughts on the hire. John Laghezza looked at McDaniel’s most recent stop calling the shots for the Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa for a look at how things could shake out in LA:
“Despite all the speedbumps and consternation, Miami was top 5 in yards per play under McDaniel (2022-2025), with Tua ranking as the overall QB4 in terms of EPA/attempt (65 QBs +250 attempts since 2022). Draft all the Chargers.”
