Week 4 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Adds: Tre Tucker, Jaxson Dart and More
Who are we adding in fantasy football this week? Tre Tucker, Oronde Gadsden, Tory Horton, and More
Jake Browning managers look away, because Tyrod Taylor, Marcus Mariota and Carson Wentz all scored more fantasy points than him in Week 3. Woof. But hey... it's not all bad! There were highs and lows throughout Sunday — including a few big injuries — but one of the key takeaways after reading this article is that we are seriously close to bye weeks.
In two short weeks we will have the dreaded byes and be without the Falcons, Bears, Packers and Steelers, so now is the time to get ahead on the waiver wire. I always say you want to try to be a week ahead so you're not dumpster diving for fantasy starters... and that time is upon us. So let's see what we can get you this week!
All rostership percentages are from Yahoo.
Week 3 NFL Injuries
- Mike Evans (hamstring)
- Terry McLaurin (quad)
- CeeDee Lamb (ankle)
- Tyrone Tracy (shoulder)
- Najee Harris (Achilles)
- James Conner (ankle — out for the season)
- Kendall's Fantasy hopes and dreams (crushed)
- Alec Pierce (concussion)
- Michael Mayer (concussion)
- Samaje Perine (thumb)
Week 4 Waiver Wire Adds
Jaxson Dart, QB, Giants (5% rostered)
I have said it all offseason—and we mostly knew—that Jaxson Dart was going to be a guy to get off waivers sooner rather than later. It was announced today that Dart will be getting the start in Week 4 going up against the Chargers. IT may not be pretty all the time, but snagging a starting quarterback with potential off waivers this early could be big for your teams. Just remember they have the hardest strength of schedule and some daunting matchups coming up, but this is Dart's team now. This could be good for Malik Nabers in the long term.
Geno Smith, QB, Raiders (28% rostered)
This is more about picking on the Chicago Bears than anything else. The Raiders take on the Bears at home in Week 4 and with some less than ideal backup quarterback play, Smith is definitely in streamer territory (although be sure to check in on Laghezza's QB Streamers piece this week for more). Smith finished Sunday completing 19-of-29 passes for 289 yards and three touchdowns. He also added five rushing yards on two carries. Maybe he can give some of that touchdown magic to Brock Bowers next week? Please???
Carson Wentz, QB, Vikings (5% rostered)
It wasn't necessarily a pretty outing for Carson Wentz, but he did manage 15.32 fantasy points and that's what we care about. If you need a streamer quarterback for the upcoming week then Wentz could be your guy — the Vikings are taking on the Steelers, whose defense is not as formidable as some expected so far this season. It's gross (although Dianna Russini has some great notes on Wentz in The Athletic), but just set your Wentz lineups then look away.
Tory Horton, WR, Seahawks (2% rostered)
What a weekend for Seattle sports!!! Selfishly I think Tory Horton had a big game because he joined me and Adam Ronis on SiriusXM last Friday (we're live every weekday at 10am ET, people!!) — and obviously we hyped him up so much he just needed to have a big game.
Horton had the first Seahawks punt return for a touchdown in 10 years and the vibes are just good in Seattle. You probably have better flex options going into next weekend, but you can't keep waiting to pick up Horton — this is the week to do it.
Sterling Shepard, WR, Buccaneers (1% rostered)
As we wait to hear how serious Mike Evans' injury is, it's important to remember a hamstring is what sidelined him last season for a handful of games. Emeka Egbuka is rostered everywhere and so is Chris Godwin, so now we turn our attention to Sterling Shepard.
Before Week 3 he had 82% route participation and 15% targets per route run. Against the Jets, Shepard had five targets and four receptions for 80 yards. Even though it's been reported that Godwin has a "strong chance" to return in Week 4, it may take a few weeks for him to ramp back up to 100%. Shepard should be on radars in case he gets called for more work when the Buccaneers take on the Eagles at home.
Chris Rodriguez (5% rostered), Jeremy McNichols (3% rostered), RBs, Commanders
It was a wait-and-see situation after Austin Ekeler went down last week with a season-ending Achilles' injury, but I mentioned both Chris Rodriguez and Jermery McNichols in the waiver wire article. Now it looks like Rodriguez is the guy to target heading into Week 4.
He started against the Raiders and finished the day with 11 carries for 39 yards. Not necessarily pretty, but this could be a backfield you want a piece of and Rodriguez is who I'm recommending first. I still think McNichols has some value, especially with the bye weeks coming up so he's a stash play for the foreseeable future.
Malik Washington, WR, Dolphins (1% rostered)
While the Miami Dolphins did actually get us fantasy points against the Bills, we still have to realize that they're heading into Week 4 winless with Mike McDaniel's seat hot as ever. Tyreek Hill still doesn't look happy on the sidelines and if he ever does get traded, why not be way ahead on this offense? Malik Washington's Week 3 stats won't blow you away — he had three receptions off five targets and 12 receiving yards, plus two carries for 20 yards. But if you're looking for a potential receiver with upside (maybe like Elic Ayomanor) then this is someone to stash... if you can.
Tre Tucker, WR, Raiders (3% rostered)
If you weren't watching this game and looked at Tre Tucker's stat line you may be very confused, but you're reading right! Tucker came down with eight catches off nine targets for 145 yards and three touchdowns and (drumroll please) 36.9 fantasy points!
This might just be a flash in the pan and we can't expect Tucker to put up these kinds of numbers every week, but if I'm recommending Geno Smith for Week 4 why not add Tucker to the list? Remember the Raiders are facing the Bears at home next week.
Parker Washington, WR, Jaguars (2% rostered)
My Brian Thomas Jr. shares are SCREAMING, but yes we have to go here. He has 16 targets over the past two games with nine receptions and 110 yards. This team is not giving the fireworks I expected this season, and Trevor Lawrence is looking like he will never live up to those first overall pick standards. He finished the day with a 50% completion percentage and another abysmal QBR. There might not be too much life in this passing game, but if we need a deep stash, Washington may be the guy for you.
Jo'Quavious "Woody" Marks, RB, HOU (26% rostered)
If we've learned nothing else this last week, it's GET AS MANY RUNNING BACKS AS YOU CAN! Enter Woody Marks, who has pretty much pulled even with Nick Chubb for backfield work for the Texans. We find ourselves at this crossroads a lot — does this mean that Marks is poised to take over as "the starter" (like what Quinshon Judkins has done in Cleveland)? Or does it mean that Marks' value is capped as a split (like we see every year almost everywhere else)?
The Utilization Report game log feature shows us Marks is on the ascent:

...with Nick Chubb as steady as they come:

So what does this mean for us? AS far as I'm concerned, Marks is an add... and then I implore you to read everything else here this week about where to start him and where to hold back. Byes start in Week 5. We forget how crazy things get. Get your depth in order now!!
Oronde Gadsden II, TE, Chargers (0% rostered — but not for long)
This may be your first time hearing about Orande Gadsden II (so watch that second "d" when you go search for him — GadsDen), a tight end your leaguemates are likely wanting in the weeks to come. But they're not going to have the pleasure of rostering him because you beat them to it! Gadsden played in his first NFL action on Sunday when the Chargers took on the Broncos and finished with five catches for 46 yards off seven targets. Two of those targets were made during the game-winning drive. Yes, the Chargers have Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin, but Gadsen is going to be the guy you want. Go get him!
Tyquan Thornton, WR, Chiefs (9% rostered)
Tyquan Thornton has two straight games with a TD and set a career-high with 9 targets for 71 yards against the Giants. It looks like Patrick Mahomes likes him, buuuuuuut we have a couple issues on the horizon -- Xavier Worthy could be back at any moment, and Rashee Rice's suspension gets him back on the field in Week 7. Now throw in Hollywood Brown, Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster... and while Thornton has the momentum (and is a great story) I think I'd rather have someone else burn their priority on him while I collect handcuffs and Gadsdens. YMMV, however, as always.
Isaiah Likely, TE, Ravens (15% rostered)
The Ravens play on Monday Night Football, but I'm comfortable recommending Isaiah Likely anyways because it has just been that bad for Mark Andrews. Andrews managers are trying to make sense of his two receptions for seven yards on four targets through the first two weeks of the season and I really have no answers. Likely broke his foot during a drill in training camp and underwent surgery to repair it and has been working his way back. He's someone to stash with a chance to make a big difference upon his return.
Jalen Tolbert, WR, Cowboys (5% rostered)
Depending on how serious the CeeDee Lamb injury is we have to go for the next man up mentality. Of course George Pickens and Jake Ferguson are going to get theirs but Jalen Tolbert could now play a bigger role in this offense. It won't be the easiest day at the office, as the Cowboys take on the Packers at home, but Tolbert is still worth a look. There was, you may recall, some steam gathering early last season in these game logs.
Trey Benson, RB, Cardinals (50% rostered)
I'm adding Trey Benson at the end of this article because he is probably rostered in your leagues. But maybe not. That rostership percentage is LOWWWW. If for some reason he isn't, then you need to add him immediately and he should be at the top of the list. James Conner is out for the season, and Benson is in line for a huge workload moving forward.
As always I will be updating this column as more injury news comes in and news breaks before waivers run!
Other Guys To Consider Adding
- Bryce Young, QB, Panthers
- Calvin Austin III, WR, Steelers
- Elic Ayomanor, WR, Titans
- Hassan Haskins, RB, Chargers
- Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Browns
- Kyle Monangai, RB, Bears
- Emari Demercado, RB, Cardinals
- Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers and Gus Edwards, RB, FA as VERY speculative adds after the Harris injury (Vidal in on the practice squad, Edwards knows the system)
