Dolphins @ Eagles Week 7 Game Preview

Dolphins @ Eagles Week 7 Game Preview

Jonathan Fuller breaks down the Week 7 matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles from a fantasy football and betting perspective.

Miami Dolphins @ Philadelphia Eagles

What a treat we have on tap for Sunday Night Football after having had to suffer through two unbearable Packers-Raiders and Giants-Bills matchups the last couple of weeks.

This game could be one of the best matchups so far this season and a potential preview of Super Bowl LVIII in just a few short months. The Dolphins and Eagles, two legitimate contenders, will face off in Philadelphia in the highest game total of the week.

2023 Passing and Rushing Efficiency

Both offenses are among the most efficient through the air and on the ground with fantasy stars everywhere you look. In fact, per our Fantasy Life consensus ranks, this game features the:

  • QB1 on the week
  • QB5
  • RB3
  • RB10
  • WR1
  • WR6
  • WR8
  • WR13
  • TE5

So yeah…there are quite a few fantasy matchups that are going to be determined by what happens in this Sunday night game. Philadelphia hasn’t been quite as dominant as they were in 2022, but the Eagles are still two-point favorites at home against a Miami team that currently leads the NFL in scoring and offensive production.

Philadelphia's defense has been much stronger at defending the run than the pass, which could lead to a big night for Tua Tagovailoa and his WRs. As usual, the passing game should flow through Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who have combined to earn 49% of the team’s targets and 69% of the team’s air yards through six weeks.

Eagles Ranks

You probably don’t need me to tell you to start Tua, Hill, Waddle, and Raheem Mostert, as all of them have proven to be elite fantasy options at this point.

After De’Von Achane was placed on IR, there was some uncertainty about who would work in the backfield alongside Mostert, and the answer turned out to be a split between Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks in Week 6. That may not matter though, as Jeff Wilson Jr. is expected to return for this game in Philadelphia. He'll be a risky start, but Wilson is probably the best bet among Dolphins RBs not named Mostert.

Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks Stats

The Eagles' offense is similarly concentrated with 53% of targets and 79% of air yards having gone to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith so far this year. But after a slow start to the 2023 season, Dallas Goedert has also gotten it going in recent weeks with his usage ramping up, which helped him finish as the No. 2 fantasy TE in Week 5.

Dolphins Ranks

On the ground, D’Andre Swift continues to consolidate the backfield touches, having earned 53% of the rush attempts and a 17% target share over the past three games. For comparison, Kenneth Gainwell has received just 16% of the rush attempts and 6% of the targets over that same span.

Pretty much wherever you look, there are great fantasy options in this primetime matchup. And with a 52-point game total, it's very possible that most of these fantasy studs will deliver as promised. Here’s to hoping that this game will live up to its potential and give us plenty of fireworks and fantasy points on Sunday night. Clear your schedule for this game and enjoy.
