Week 5 FanDuel NFL DFS Picks: Game Stack With Derrick Henry, C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins and More

Week 5 FanDuel NFL DFS Picks: Game Stack With Derrick Henry, C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins and More

Geoff Ulrich targets the top DFS plays on FanDuel for Week 5, including a game stack featuring stars Derrick Henry, C.J. Stroud and Nico Collins.

With TNF over, it’s time to focus on the Sunday DFS slate for Week 5 and take a shot at some of the monster prize pools available across the DFS industry.

What are we looking at today?

Week 5 DFS Picks for FanDuel GPPs and the Sunday Million

FanDuel awards bonuses now at 100+ yards (3 points passing/receiving/rushing), but their 0.5 PPR setting does make TDs more valuable and receptions less so—something to keep in mind.

The plays and salaries listed here will be specific to FanDuel and their salary cap contests.

However, since we’re also relying on the FantasyLife+ projections, tools and advice, the specific game matchups and correlations—aka game stacks are— things you can apply to lineup building across the DFS industry.

Let’s get started. Week 5 FanDuel picks are here.

Week 5 FanDuel GPP Contrarian Stack

Derrick Henry (8400), with C.J. Stroud (6700)/Nico Collins (8100)

  • Pair with Woody Marks (5400)
The Ravens will be heading into Week 5 with no Lamar Jackson and in need of a win to stave off a 1-4 record. They should be looking to ride Derrick Henry in this spot, who has now put up three duds in a row after a huge Week 1 (31.2 FP), but should have a great shot at getting to 20+ touches this week.

Via RBSDM.com, Houston is ranked 5th in EPA per play on defense, but they’re a classic funnel-to-the-run sort of unit. To date, they’re 4th in EPA per dropback, but fall to 22nd in EPA per rush and have allowed 4.7 YPC against in their last three games, to go along with 4 rushing TDs against, to date. Given Fanduel’s 0.5 PPR scoring, Henry’s a great contrarian way to start lineups on this slate.

Much like Henry, I also think this is a spot where C.J. Stroud can finally rise up and show some of that 2023 promise again. The Ravens rank just 25th in EPA per dropback and are coming off a Week 4 performance that saw them allow 4 TD passes to Patrick Mahomes. Stroud is coming off his best game of the season, a 2-TD game against the Titans, where he also threw for 233 yards and averaged a very stout 8.33 YPA, so there is momentum on his side.

Pairing Stroud with Nico Collins is a no-brainer if you’re looking to target this game, as the WR remains the clear-cut primary target for Stroud and comes into Week 5 with a 27% season-long target share. He’s also the only Texans WR to go for than 50 yards this year. Looking to Jayden Higgins or Christian Kirk for a breakout game vs. a weaker secondary does make sense, but given their lack of production to date, I’d likely rather get a little more contrarian and triple stack Stroud/Collins with RB Woody Marks.

Marks has looked great as a receiver and scored the first receiving TD of his career last week, while posting 4 rec and 50 yards (5 targets) as well.

Week 5 FanDuel “Big-Brain” Value Stack

Jaxson Dart (7600) and Darius Slayton (5400)

Jaxson Dart’s legs did most of the work in his first start, but he’s got a great matchup against a weak pass defense in New Orleans in Week 5, which has allowed the fifth-most FP to opposing QBs on the season and second-most passing TDs allowed at nine. We may see him put in the first multi-TD game of his career, to go along with some big rushes

Just given the matchup, I’m also prone to taking a shot stacking Dart with what is now his best downfield receiver in Darius Slayton. Slayton isn’t Malik Nabers, but we have seen him thrive when given the chance before. In the three games where he saw 7+ targets last season, Slayton averaged 95 yards receiving and went for 100+ twice. He should get a healthy target share again this week, and at 5400, remains a cheap way to build around Dart’s upside in this spot.

Finally, just a quick note on Jalin Hyatt, whom you could consider in triple stacks or as a one-off play this week as well. He’ll likely play a decent amount of snaps in three-WR sets and has one-off potential as well. In the three games that he’s seen 5+ targets, Hyatt’s managed 75+ yards twice, and posted 5 receptions and 109 yards on 6 targets vs. the Patriots back in November 2023.

Week 5 FanDuel Core Targets

1. Javonte Williams (7500)

The Cowboys will be without CeeDee Lamb, Miles Sanders and Kavonte Turpin this week, which should thrust Williams into a big role. He’s already been handling the majority of touches from the RB position, but may not come off the field in this game, and faces a Jets defense that is 28th in EPA per play on the season, and allowed Miami’s primary back, De'Von Achane, to go for 99 yards and a TD against them on the ground.

Using Williams as the primary exposure to the Dallas side will also allow you to build around this game using Fields and/or Wilson from the Jets.

2. Tetairoa McMillan (6200)

  • Pair with De'Von Achane (8100)

The Dolphins' pass defense is one of the worst in the league. They’re 31st in success rate per dropback on defense, and second last in yards per attempt against (8.3). McMillan should have a great shot at breaking out in this spot and will likely be the focal point of this offense, which figures to go pass-heavy thanks to the matchup and the fact Chuba Hubbard has been ruled out for Week 5.

I love the low price point and the chance to game stack him with Achane in this spot, which would help get your overall lineup ownership down, given that the Carolina players aren’t likely to be heavily rostered.
