NFL Training Camp News Updates for Fantasy Football: Is Marvin Harrison Jr. Teasing A Breakout Year?

Matthew Freedman rounds up the latest fantasy football-relevant updates from every team during their Training Camps.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an NFL training camp primer with one storyline per team to monitor as we approach the regular season.

Now that every team has been in camp for at least a week and we've started to get some real insight from various national and beat reporters, it's time for a training camp fantasy roundup.

Here are some of the fantasy-relevant items that have caught my eye over the past couple of days.

NFL Training Camp Updates From Every Team For Fantasy Football

Marvin Harrison has made a series of good-to-great receptions in training camp.

One of them in particular was an exceptional one-handed contested-catch beauty.

But in all the social media highlights I've seen, he still doesn't seem to get much separation—and that's a little concerning.

ATL_falcons-logo.svgAtlanta Falcons

Camp hasn't been great so far for the Falcons.

To start with, No. 2 WR Darnell Mooney (shoulder) suffered an injury in practice and will miss most (if not all) of training camp and maybe even Week 1. His Underdog ADP has dropped 4.1 spots over the past week (per our Fantasy Life ADP Tool).

And to make matters worse, GM Terry Fontenot has said that TE Kyle Pitts is "as healthy as he's been." If you've rostered Pitts at any point over the past three years, you know exactly why this is bad news.

BAL_ravens-logo.svgBaltimore Ravens

Third-year TE Isaiah Likely (foot) was carted off the field at the end of Tuesday's practice with a fracture that will require surgery and likely put his Week 1 availability in jeopardy.

Also on Tuesday, No. 1 WR Zay Flowers seemed to be dealing with a leg/knee issue, and then he missed practice on Wednesday. While his injury doesn't seem major, a preseason lower-body complication is never positive.

I expect to see No. 1 TE Mark Andrews get a boost in our 2025 fantasy draft rankings and our season-long player projections.

BUF_bills-logo.svgBuffalo Bills

No. 1 TE Dalton Kincaid is already dealing with knee soreness. Unfortunately, it feels as if this guy can't stay healthy.

I fear the third-year player is at risk of becoming a "former first-rounder."

CAR_panthers-logo.svgCarolina Panthers

Veteran WR Hunter Renfrow—who put up 103-1,038-9 receiving in 2021 for the Raiders before struggling with injuries and inefficiency in 2022-23 and sitting out 2024—signed with the Panthers this offseason, and he looked good early in camp.

But his return to relevance has been hindered by a tweaked hamstring, which seems minor … but when it comes to 29-year-old slot receivers trying to make a comeback, there is no such thing as a minor soft-tissue injury in the preseason.

CHI_bears-logo.svgChicago Bears

Rookie second-round WR Luther Burden (hamstring) practiced for the first time on Monday.

If he ends up winning the slot role in HC Ben Johnson's offense …

… that could be good for him and fantasy investors.

CIN_bengals-logo.svgCincinnati Bengals

The team released injury-plagued veteran RB Zack Moss (neck) on Wednesday, which means that rookie sixth-rounder Tahj Brooks is now all the closer to serving as the No. 2 RB behind Chase Brown.

And especially for Zero RB practitioners, that makes him relevant.

CLE_browns-logo.svgCleveland Browns

Right now, rookie RB Quinshon Judkins is still not with the team—he's the league's last unsigned draft selection—and he was arrested in Florida earlier this month for misdemeanor domestic battery.

Owner Jimmy Haslam is "cautiously optimistic" that he will play for the Browns this year—but Haslam is also the guy who thought it was a great idea to trade away the future for QB Deshaun Watson and then give him a fully guaranteed contract.

The second-rounder has talent. In college, Judkins had three straight seasons with at least 1,200 yards and 16 TDs from scrimmage, and he flashed elite athleticism at the combine (4.48-second 40-yard dash at 6-0 and 221 lbs.).

But his NFL career is off to a poor start.

DAL_cowboys-logo.svgDallas Cowboys

This offseason, the Cowboys added veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders and rookies Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah to their backfield.

Of the four, Blue is the only one who excites: He's fast (4.38-second 40-yard dash), he's young (21 years old), and he impressed in his final season of college ball at Texas (1,098 yards, 14 TDs on 134 carries, 42 receptions).

And on Wednesday, he finally got first-team reps.

DEN_broncos-logo.svgDenver Broncos

I recently jumped on the Action Network Podcast to highlight some breakout candidates, and Marvin Mims—one of the 32 guys I want to draft this year—is someone I discussed.

Mims is a first-team All-Pro returner—just as Tyreek Hill and Cordarrelle Patterson were early in their careers—so he's talented, and I like the potential he has to overtake the soon-to-be 30-year-old Courtland Sutton.

With second-round draft capital as well as 10.4 yards per target and 22 carries across his two-year career, Mims could develop into HC Sean Payton's joker.

That might seem unlikely—but the Broncos are trying "different stuff" with Mims in training camp in order to get him the ball more.

That's encouraging.

DET_lions-logo.svgDetroit Lions

Third-year stud Jahmyr Gibbs is looking more like a true No. 1 RB, given that he has been playing ahead of ground-and-pound grinder David Montgomery this offseason.

If that usage continues into the regular season, Gibbs could legitimately outperform his first-round ADP.

Rankings-hq.jpg

GB_packers-logo.svgGreen Bay Packers

No. 2 RB MarShawn Lloyd (groin) exited practice on Monday with a non-contact injury.

I continue to think starter Josh Jacobs has a real chance to replicate last year's 1,671-yard, 16-TD campaign.

HOU_texans-logo.svgHouston Texans

As I noted earlier in this week's ADP report, the fantasy market for veteran RB Joe Mixon has cratered: He will miss "multiple weeks of training camp" and is uncertain for Week 1.

Especially with the offseason additions of veteran Nick Chubb and rookie Woody Marks to the backfield, Mixon feels increasingly like a risky pick.

IND_colts-logo.svgIndianapolis Colts

This offseason, the Colts are holding a true QB competition between "former first-rounders" Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones.

So far, Richardson has looked better in padded practices.

Even if he wins the starting job, I doubt he'll keep it for the entire season … but that probably won't prevent me from drafting him as a late-round option in too many leagues.

JAC_jaguars-logo.svgJacksonville Jaguars

I'm not sure how much exposure to the Jags backfield I actually want—but right now it looks like the team's No. 1 RB is Tank Bigsby.

And that makes some sense: He was the No. 1 RB last year.

Sure, he had just 820 scrimmage yards and a lowly 44 Utilization Score (per our Fantasy Life Utilization Report).

But, still, No. 1 RB.

KC_chiefs-logo.svgKansas City Chiefs

Veteran RB Elijah Mitchell missed 2024 to injury, and in 2022-23, he had just 581 yards—but in 2021, he flashed with 1,100 yards from scrimmage in 11 games as a sixth-round rookie.

He's not untalented—and he's competing for the No. 2 RB spot with Kareem Hunt.

OAK_raiders-logo.svgLas Vegas Raiders

The Raiders signed 32-year-old former first-round WR Phillip Dorsett last week. Since 2020, he has only 27 receptions. This team is desperate at WR.

No. 1 TE Brock Bowers is +4000 (DraftKings) to lead the league in receiving yards. Just saying.

LAC_chargers-logo.svgLos Angeles Chargers

Najee Harris famously suffered a fireworks-related eye injury on the Fourth of July and then opened training camp on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.

It's not a good look. Literally.

HC Jim Harbaugh still says that Harris has no timeline to return.

I'm still of the opinion that his veteran, hard-nosed running style will appeal to Harbaugh and OC Gregg Roman—but second-round rookie RB Omarion Hampton has a real chance to claim the No. 1 RB job.

LA_rams-logo.svgLos Angeles Rams

QB Matthew Stafford (back) is already dealing with soreness. In other words, he's in midseason form.

MIA_dolphins-logo.svgMiami Dolphins

Anytime you can replace TE Jonnu Smith with Darren Waller, you must.

I mean, Waller's currently on PUP—but, still, you must.

MIN_vikings-logo.svgMinnesota Vikings

The Vikings might have a full-blown backfield committee: Jordan Mason played ahead of Aaron Jones earlier this week once the pads went on.

That might mean nothing—but Jones turns 31 years old in December. He's not without risk.

NE_patriots-logo.svgNew England Patriots

QB Drake Maye hopes to run less this year. That noise you hear is the sound of fantasy drafters crying.

NO_saints-logo.svgNew Orleans Saints

Second-round rookie QB Tyler Shough has played with the third-team offense in training camp.

I used to think Shough is an ADP value, but his failure to separate from QBs Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler is discouraging.

It might be debatable, but the Saints almost certainly have the league's worst QB room.

NYG_giants-logo.svgNew York Giants

Despite being selected on Day 3, rookie Cam Skattebo has already gotten some first-team offensive reps

I still believe Tyrone Tracy will be the team's No. 1 RB. He played well last year as a rookie with 1,123 yards and six TDs—but Skattebo will make him earn the job.

NYJ_jets-logo.svgNew York Jets

This week, the Jets signed 40-year-old K Nick Folk.

Laugh it up, but over the past half decade, the dude has a 92.3% FG rate, and over the past two years that number has crept up to an NFL-best 96.2%.

He might find his way into more than a few fantasy lineups this fall.

PHI_eagles-logo.svgPhiladelphia Eagles

Last year, first-round CB Quinyon Mitchell played exclusively on the right side as a rookie. But in training camp this year, the Eagles are moving him across the formation in case they want to use him as a shadow corner.

If Mitchell builds upon his encouraging first season, he (and the Eagles) could be a tough matchup for opposing No. 1 WRs in 2025.

PIT_steelers-logo.svgPittsburgh Steelers

OC Arthur Smith is lining TE Jonnu Smith up in the backfield alongside 41-year-old QB Aaron Rodgers.

In all fairness to Smith, where else would he put Smith if TEs Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, and Connor Heyward are also on the field?

SF_49ers-logo.svgSan Francisco 49ers

WR Jauan Jennings has a chance to lead the 49ers in receiving this year—but he suffered a calf injury this week … and that's after he sat out the team's June minicamp with an injured calf.

With a WR room in disarray, I expect the 49ers offense to funnel through RB Christian McCaffrey this year.

I discussed this recently on the Fantasy Life Show with Dwain McFarland and Ian Hartitz.

SEA_seahawks-logo.svgSeattle Seahawks

The Seahawks cut veteran TE Noah Fant a couple of weeks ago, and since then, second-round rookie TE Elijah Arroyo has looked "like a playmaker."

He likely won't be desirable in redraft leagues, but in best ball, he warrants consideration.

TB_buccaneers-logo.svgTampa Bay Buccaneers

QB Baker Mayfield recently hyped up first-round WR Emeka Egbuka on New Heights, and veteran WR Chris Godwin (ankle) is highly uncertain for Week 1.

Egbuka has good athleticism (4.42-second 40-yard dash) and college production (81-1,011-10 receiving last year).

He has an underappreciated chance to break out as a rookie.

TEN_titans-logo.svgTennessee Titans

Former first-round WR Treylon Burks (collarbone) suffered an injury late last week and was then cut this week.

He probably won't be the next A.J. Brown.

WAS_commanders-logo.svgWashington Commanders

No. 1 WR Terry McLaurin (ankle, PUP) is technically "injured" and thus not practicing (despite being at camp) … but it seems like the kind of thing a new contract extension could probably fix.

Unfortunately, the Commanders and McLaurin don't seem close to getting a deal done.

There's a real chance that McLaurin's injury could linger into the regular season.
