Week 10 Fantasy Football Injury Report: James Cook, Rico Dowdle and More

Week 10 Fantasy Football Injury Report: James Cook, Rico Dowdle and More

Adam Ronis and Jorge Martin dive into the Week 10 injuries that are impacting fantasy football, including James Cook, Rico Dowdle and more players.

Kyler Murray on IR with a foot sprain. Jayden Daniels already declared out, but not on IR, yet. But that dislocated elbow was something we’re not in a hurry to see again. C.J. Stroud also out, though he has a concussion and we’re hopeful for a Week 11 return. That’s enough to make a superflex league start to think about going back to the old days. Yes, it has been one of those years for the QB position.

On the RB side, some good news is that Quinshon Judkins already has no injury designation. He had a shoulder injury before the Week 9 bye, so it’s great to have him cleared going into a great matchup against the Jets, who just traded Quinnen Williams from a defense that just got gashed for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns by the Bengals last week.

Tight end, sigh. Tucker Kraft is out for the season with a torn ACL. Guess we can’t all have nice things. The injury report certainly shows that it’s Week 10. The list is long and it’s a distinguished crew who are among the missing on a weekly basis. Some are on the return, but many we don’t know about yet. Here is the latest for the injured going into the Sunday action.

Week 10 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Quarterback

SF_49ers-logo.svg Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers)

“We’ll evaluate at the end of the week,” said 49ers GM John Lynch. Why does it feel like we’ve been to this movie before? Right, we’ve been there since Week 4. Purdy started the week in a limited practice. Until he’s practicing in full, it’s just hard to expect him to be anything more than backing up Mac Jones. UPDATE: Purdy is going to sit for a Rams encounter after Jones passed for 342 yards and 2 TDs in a 26-23 OT win in Week 5.

Running Back

PHI_eagles-logo.svg Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles)

Barkley injured his groin at the end of the game against the Giants in Week 8. Following the bye week, Barkley was a full participant in practice on Thursday. The Eagles play the Packers Monday night and the indication is Barkley will play. UPDATE: Barkley practiced in full for a second straight day and appears to be full strength for a game that has a playoff feel. Rico Dowdle just gouged the Packers for 130-2 last week, so this could be many happy returns for Saquon.

BUF_bills-logo.svg James Cook (Buffalo Bills)

Cook gave some a scare by missing practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, but many players sit on Wednesday if even partially injured. Cook was limited in practice on Thursday and is expected to play. UPDATE: Cook practiced in full and looks to continue a hot streak where he's rushed for 340 yards and 2 TDs in the past two games.

CAR_panthers-logo.svg Rico Dowdle (Carolina Panthers)

After missing practice Wednesday with a quad injury, Dowdle was limited on Thursday. Dowdle played through the injury last week and coach Dave Canales said they want to be smart about it. Dowdle has become the feature back and is the consensus RB7. UPDATE: Dowdle worked up to full practice on Friday and appears to be full steam ahead for a home date with the Saints, who are allowing 109.8 rushing yards to RBs. Let the good times keep rolling for Dowdle.

TB_buccaneers-logo.svg Bucky Irving (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Those hoping Irving would return after the bye week will have to wait longer. Irving has yet to practice with foot and shoulder injuries. He hasn’t played since Week 4. Rachaad White is in line for another start against a Patriots run defense that hasn’t allowed an RB to rush for 50 yards this season. UDDATE: Irving is going to sit, which is very concerning coming off a bye week, so we really have no idea when he'll be back. White is going have a tough time running against a Patriots defense that has yet to allow 50 rushing yards to opposing running backs. Bijan Robinson did 50 receiving yards last week, which is a good sign for White's receiving-game prowess.

MIN_vikings-logo.svg Aaron Jones (Minnesota Vikings)

Jones left last week with a shoulder injury and was taking over the backfield before departing. He was limited in Thursday’s practice and indications were Jones wouldn’t miss a game. UPDATE: Jones was limited in practice Friday as well, which means we'll have to keep an eye on the Sunday morning inactives. Though the Ravens are getting healthier, they still have given up 138.3 scrimmage yards to RBs per game.

NE_patriots-logo.svg Rhamondre Stevenson (New England Patriots)

Stevenson sat out last week with a toe injury and has missed the first two practices of the week. TreVeyon Henderson played the majority of the snaps last week with Terrell Jennings mixing in and he scored a TD. The early consensus rankings have Henderson at RB20. UPDATE: Stevenson was ruled out, so it's going to be Henderson as the lead back, though hopefully he'll get some of the goal-line touches that went to Jennings last time.

CHI_bears-logo.svg D’Andre Swift (Chicago Bears)

After missing last week with a groin injury, Swift was a full participant on Thursday. It’s a great sign that Swift will play against the Giants. Kyle Monangai had 29 touches for 198 yards last week with the Bengals. Swift could lose some touches to Monangai. UPDATE: Swift did not practice on Friday due to a personal matter, which adds a cloud to his injury situation. We'll have to keep an eye on the inactives Sunday morning, but if you have Monangai, you're starting him with more confidence.

Wide Receiver

LA_rams-logo.svg Puka Nacua (Los Angeles Rams)

The Rams’ all-around stud WR practiced in full on Thursday. It looks like all systems go for a big NFC West clash with the 49ers. Puka Nacua went 10-85-1 when they met in Week 5, and the 49ers have suffered even more injuries since then. Wheel’s up on Puka.

CAR_panthers-logo.svgTetairoa McMillan (Carolina Panthers)

The standout rookie popped up with a hamsrting injury in the Friday practice report, which is never a good sign. HC Dave Canales even said there was "concern," which is basically coachspeak that Tetairoa McMillan could be headed to sitting out. If he sits, there really is no Panthers pass catcher worth starting this week.

NE_patriots-logo.svg Kayshon Boutte (New England Patriots)

Boutte left last week’s game with a hamstring injury and didn’t practice on Thursday. He’s unlikely to play this week. Kyle Williams should see more snaps, but he can’t be started. DeMario Douglas will likely be the player who benefits. UPDATE: Boutte is going to sit, reinforcing that the only Patriots WR worth starting in fantasy is Stefon Diggs

PHI_eagles-logo.svg A.J. Brown (Philadelphia Eagles)

Brown missed Week 8 with a hamstring injury and was at practice on Thursday. It appears he will return this week. UPDATE: After a pair of full practices AJB appears to be good to go against the Packers on Monday Night Football. That just adds to the intrigue on a game that has an over/under of 46 and could evolve into a shootout.

TB_buccaneers-logo.svg Chris Godwin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Godwin has yet to return to practice with a fibula injury. He is expected to miss another game. Target Emeka Egbuka in trade talks and he could be a good DFS play this week. UPDATE: Godwin is sitting, just like Irving. ESPN reported that Godwin could sit out until late November, early December with this injury. Emeka Egbuka is a smash start and Tez Johnson could be a TD-depended flex play.

GB_packers-logo.svg Matthew Golden (Green Bay Packers)

Golden was limited in practice Thursday with a shoulder injury after leaving last week’s game early. Even if Golden plays, he’s not a recommended start. UPDATE: Golden may be headed to a sit after a Friday DNP. This would boost Christian Watson for the potential high-scoring matchup with the Eagles.

WAS_commanders-logo.svg Terry McLaurin (Washington Commanders)

When referencing McLaurin, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic said on the NFL Daily podcast that any team that has intent on re-signing a player to get it done early enough so that the player can go through a full training camp. The late signing and immediate rampup in the final weeks before the season started likely played a factor in McLaurin’s quadriceps injury. He’s trending toward a sit in a matchup against the Lions where the Commanders will need to score some points to keep up. UPDATE: McLaurin is sitting. Pete Overzet has a great writeup with his Underdog DFS preview where he breaks down the Commanders passing game

JAC_jaguars-logo.svg Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Thomas injured his ankle last week and it was reportedly a low grade high-ankle sprain. Thomas hasn’t practiced yet and all signs point to Thomas missing this week. Parker Washington and Jakobi Meyers will benefit. UPDATE: BTJ is sitting, making the acquisition of Jakobi Meyers even more valuable.

NYJ_jets-logo.svg Garrett Wilson (New York Jets)

After missing two games with a knee injury, Wilson is expected to return against the Browns. He has put in two limited practices to start the week and says he feels great. UPDATE: Wilson graduated to a full practice on Friday, which should line him to be the target hog for the Jets. the Browns did most recently give up 89 receiving yards to Mack Hollins, who wore shoes in the process.

SEA_seahawks-logo.svg Cooper Kupp (Seattle Seahawks)

Kupp missed Week 9 and went DNP Wednesday before practicing on a limited basis on Thursday. We’ll update his status on Friday. UPDATE: Kupp practiced in full on Friday, lining him up to play in Week 10. He just adds to the Seattle WR corps, which just gor shored up with the trade for Rashid Shaheed. Coming off injury, Kupp appears to be only an emergency start at this time.

Tight End

CLE_browns-logo.svg Harold Fannin Jr. (Cleveland Browns)

Fannin didn’t practice Thursday with a hamstring injury. If Fannin is out, David Njoku would get a boost.
