The Best Values in Yahoo's Draft Room: How to Get An ADP Edge

The Best Values in Yahoo's Draft Room: How to Get An ADP Edge

Want an advantage in your Yahoo league? Matt "The Oracle" Freedman highlights the players with screwy ADPs in their draft room.

Over the next few weeks, you might have a number of fantasy football drafts with friends, family, work colleagues, and other losers who will learn to appreciate the bitter taste of defeat in their head-to-head matchups with you.

Some of these drafts might be at Yahoo.

With that in mind, I've set the scoring system to Yahoo for my 2025 player projections and redraft fantasy rankings, and then I've compared them to the default rankings at Yahoo as well as the site's average draft position (via our Fantasy Life ADP Draft Board).

You can customize our tools in a variety of ways to fit your leagues. To access our full suite of resources, use the promo code FREEDMAN for a 20% discount on the FantasyLife+ package.

With this data, I can create my Yahoo draft plan and focus on the players I want to roster.

Ordered by position and draft status, here are some of the candidates who most stand out to me on Yahoo.

2025 Fantasy Football Yahoo QBs

Early Rounds

QB Josh Allen (Bills)

  • My Ranking: QB1
  • Yahoo Ranking: QB2
  • Yahoo ADP: QB2

On some other platforms I might fade him, and I'd rather wait at the position, but if I'm going to select a QB early on Yahoo, it will likely be Josh Allen, because I think he should be the No. 1 QB.

As I mentioned recently in my piece on QBs with 75+ projected carries, Allen has been the league's best QB over the past half decade.

Mid Rounds

QB Justin Fields (Jets)

  • My Ranking: QB8
  • Yahoo Ranking: QB8
  • Yahoo ADP: QB10

Despite his respectable on-site ranking, Yahoo drafters have been fine with letting Justin Fields sit in the queue for a while before selecting him.

That's fine with me.

I have Fields projected for a position-high 149 carries this year. His rushing ability is elite.

Late Rounds

QB Drake Maye (Patriots)

  • My Ranking: QB13
  • Yahoo Ranking: QB13
  • Yahoo ADP: QB16

Drake Maye is one of my favorite 2025 fantasy bench picks.

Last year as a rookie he averaged 36.3 yards rushing across 10 full games, he could naturally improve anyway in his second season, and his offensive environment should be much better with the offseason additions of OC Josh McDaniels, LT Will Campbell, LG Jared Wilson, C Garrett Bradbury, RT Morgan Moses, WR Stefon Diggs, and RB TreVeyon Henderson.

Yahoo drafters are letting him sit on the board too long.

2025 Fantasy Football Yahoo RBs

Early Rounds

RB Christian McCaffrey (49ers)

  • My Ranking: RB2
  • Yahoo Ranking: RB4
  • Yahoo ADP: RB5

I love Derrick Henry, but Yahoo drafters are taking him ahead of Christian McCaffrey, and I think that's just plain wrong.

As one of the RBs projected for 50+ targets, McCaffrey has a high floor, and his offense gives him a high ceiling.

Mid Rounds

RB Alvin Kamara (Saints)

  • My Ranking: RB14
  • Yahoo Ranking: RB18
  • Yahoo ADP: RB18

I have Alvin Kamara projected for a position-high 87 targets this year.

Only once in his career has Kamara had fewer than 1,300 scrimmage yards, and last year he had 1,493 yards and eight TDs in 14 games with a position-high 93 Utilization Score (per our Fantasy Life Utilization Report).

Even if the Saints offense is bad, I expect Kamara to have 200+ carries and 75+ targets if healthy.

Late Rounds

RB D'Andre Swift (Bears)

  • My Ranking: RB18
  • Yahoo Ranking: RB25
  • Yahoo ADP: RB27

I'm aggressively high on D'Andre Swift this year, so much so that I was initially surprised by my projection of him.

But he had a career-high 1,345 yards last year, and the offense should be better this year with the development of QB Caleb Williams in his second season and the offseason additions of HC Ben Johnson, LG Joe Thuney, C Drew Dalman, and RG Jonah Jackson.

Swift is one of my favorite Zero RB candidates.

RB Rhamondre Stevenson (Patriots)

  • My Ranking: RB33
  • Yahoo Ranking: RB33
  • Yahoo ADP: RB38

With the strong preseason performance of second-round rookie TreVeyon Henderson, Yahoo drafters have grown skeptical of veteran Rhamondre Stevenson.

Indeed, Stevenson has fallen down draft boards across the industry over the past week.

Even so, I still expect Stevenson to have a significant role in the Pats backfield under OC Josh McDaniels, who has almost always employed committees.

2025 Fantasy Football Yahoo WRs

Early Rounds

WR Malik Nabers (Giants)

  • My Ranking: WR3
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR6
  • Yahoo ADP: WR6

Last year, Malik Nabers was No. 1 in target rate (35%), No. 2 in Utilization Score (91), and No. 3 in air yard share (46%) … as a rookie.

He could be even better this year, and his QB situation has improved this offseason with the additions of veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart.

I have him projected for a position-high 166 targets this year.

WR Tyreek Hill (Dolphins)

  • My Ranking: WR9
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR17
  • Yahoo ADP: WR14

I think Tyreek Hill is one of this year's biggest ADP values.

Last year, he was a top-three fantasy pick. Now, he's often available in Round 3.

Why?

QB Tua Tagovailoa missed six games, and Hill's season was impacted by a lingering wrist injury, so he underperformed.

Even so, in his three years with the Dolphins, he has averaged 9.6 yards per target. For his career, 9.5.

He's still Tyreek.

Mid Rounds

WR Davante Adams (Rams)

  • My Ranking: WR12
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR16
  • Yahoo ADP: WR18

With offensive HC Sean McVay and QB Matthew Stafford, the Rams have the ability to support two high-end pass catchers, and Adams over the past three years—despite being with the Raiders and Jets—has put up 3,723 yards and 30 TDs receiving on 10.3 targets per game.

Even playing alongside No. 1 WR Puka Nacua, Adams should see enough target volume to be a top-tier WR2.

WR Xavier Worthy (Chiefs)

  • My Ranking: WR18
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR24
  • Yahoo ADP: WR25

There's vast uncertainty right now surrounding No. 1 WR Rashee Rice (looming suspension), which gives the second-year Worthy the opportunity to seize the No. 1 job.

Last year as a rookie, Worthy amassed 635 yards and six TDs on 65 targets and 12 carries in his final eight full games (including playoffs).

It's not likely … but with his speed (4.21-second 40-yard dash), Worthy could develop into Tyreek 2.0.

Late Rounds

WR Jerry Jeudy (Browns)

  • My Ranking: WR29
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR38
  • Yahoo ADP: WR34

Jerry Jeudy finally broke out last year with 1,229 yards receiving, and in his final 10 games—without QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles)—he put up 69-963-3 receiving on 103 targets and was the No. 8 WR with an 87 Utilization Score.

I don't see why Jeudy shouldn't continue to be peppered with targets, especially with QB Joe Flacco as the Week 1 starter.

WR Jakobi Meyers (Raiders)

  • My Ranking: WR35
  • Yahoo Ranking: WR37
  • Yahoo ADP: WR39

There's nothing super exciting about Jakobi Meyers, but he has 800+ yards receiving in each of the past four years, and in 2024 he hit career-best marks with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards.

He should still be the No. 1 WR for the Raiders, and he gets a year-over-year upgrade with the additions of QB Geno Smith and OC Chip Kelly.

I recently took him in a 14-team PPR ESPN mock draft (via our Draft Champion mock simulator).

2025 Fantasy Football Yahoo TEs

Mid Rounds

TE David Njoku (Browns)

  • My Ranking: TE7
  • Yahoo Ranking: TE9
  • Yahoo ADP: TE8

David Njoku is someone I can't help but draft, given that I think he has top-three positional upside.

In his six previous games with QB Joe Flacco (in 2023), Njoku had 37-483-4 receiving on 56 targets and a position-best 9.5 Utilization Score.

And over the past two seasons (including playoffs), Njoku has 107-1,085-9 receiving on 167 targets in 18 games without QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles).

Late Rounds

TE Colston Loveland (Bears)

  • My Ranking: TE10
  • Yahoo Ranking: TE14
  • Yahoo ADP: TE16

He's a rookie, but the Bears just selected Colston Loveland with the No. 10 overall pick in April, and he has tremendous potential with QB Calen Williams and HC Ben Johnson.

This is a pure upside pick.

TE Zach Ertz (Commanders)

  • My Ranking: TE17
  • Yahoo Ranking: TE19
  • Yahoo ADP: TE22

2025 OROY QB Jayden Daniels could be even better in his second season, and Ertz was a productive player last year with 66-654-7 receiving on 91 targets.

And if No. 1 WR Terry McLaurin holds out into the regular season, then Ertz could get even more work this year.
