Divisional Round Guilloteenie Draft Review: Start With Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Divisional Round Guilloteenie Draft Review: Start With Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Kendall Valenzuela provides an overview of her Guilloteenie Draft ahead of the Divisional Round.

If you missed the action last week with Guilloteenies, then don't you fret because we have more drafts heading into the Divisional Round of the playoffs going on right now! So make sure you get in on the action before it's too late!

My draft prep was pretty simple this round: get Jaxon Smith-Njigba and then players whom think I have the safest floor to get me through the week. The thing that makes single-chop leagues a week into the playoffs difficult to draft is that there are a shallow group of players that make you feel comfortable. You can try and get JSN, Puka Nacua or Josh Allen, but after the obvious picks you really have to dig into who you believe can get you the points to survive.

As a reminder, lineups consist of 1 QB; 2 RB; 2 WR; 1 TE; 2 FLEX!

Divisional Round Guilloteenie Draft Review

I also wanted to set my team up for success past the first chop. This idea is good in theory, but sometimes (depending on how the draft goes) has to be abandoned. Essentially, I didn't want to load up my team with a majority of  players from the same team. Stacking is not as important here as other draft formats. I think Matt LaMarca said it best in his article, if your entire roster gets chopped in the first round, you’re going to be facing an uphill battle. Just something to keep in the back of your mind. Now let's get to the draft!

Round 1

Team 1: Christian McCaffrey

My Team (KV): Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Team 3: Puka Nacua

Team 4: Drake Maye

Yeah, yeah, I am SUPER  biased as a Seattle Seahawks fan, but I wanted to have another team with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on it. To be honest, I didn't think Puka Nacua would be there at two, but I still went with JSN. They are both cheat codes for Guillotines Leagues™️ so I was happy to walk away with either!

Round 2

Team 4: James Cook

Team 3: Josh Allen

KV: Matthew Stafford

Team 1: Sam Darnold

Ulike last week where we could wait on the quarterback position and still end up with Stafford, I wanted to make sure to get an elite QB early. Of course, I was sniped on Josh Allen so Stafford was the next best bet. There are eight quarterbacks to choose from in the Divisional Round, but we saw a few struggle in the Wild Card Round. Drake Maye didn't look as locked in and now he faces the Texans. C.J. Stroud should just not even be looked at and Brock Purdy is now facing the Seahawks defense. I was happy to get Stafford here even if it was a little early.

Round 3

Team 1: Davante Adams

KV: Rhamondre Stevenson

Team 3: RJ Harvey

Team 4: Colston Loveland

Honestly, this was my least favorite pick of the entire draft. Stevenson gave us 53 rushing yards off 10 carries along with 75 receiving yards against the Chargers, but now he faces a tough test against the Texans defense. I should have gone with RJ Harvey here or even Kyren Williams. If I get chopped it will probably be in part to Stevenson having a down game.

Round 4

Team 4: Kyren Williams

Team 3: Kenneth Walker

KV: Courtland Sutton

Team 1: D'Andre Swift

I was happy to get Sutton here because I wasn't willing to draft him any earlier. The big question for the Broncos this week is if the offense is ready to do its part. They need to execute in the red zone and they also need to be at their best on third downs. The Broncos are favored by -1 at home with a total sitting at 46.5, so please find the end zone Sutton!

Round 5

Team 1: Dalton Kincaid

KV: Khalil Shakir

Team 3: TreVeyon Henderson

Team 4: Jauan Jennings

Do I hate this pick, too? Yeah, it's not my favorite because this Bills team is facing a tough test against this Broncos defense. Denver has an elite pass defense, and a secondary highlighted by Pat Surtain, who is downright scary! The Bills' offense doesn't rely on any one receiver, and I think the fact that they can attack the middle of the field is a win since it is an area of weakness for the Broncos.

Round 6

Team 4: Zach Charbonnet

Team 3: Stefon Diggs

KV: Woody Marks

Team 1: DJ Moore

Woody Marks was surprisingly good against the Steelers. He finished with 19 carries for 112 yards and 1 touchdown. We have him ranked as RB8 in our Guillotine rankings, which makes me happy getting him in the sixth round of this draft.

Round 7

Team 1: Christian Kirk

KV: Jayden Higgins

Team 3: Blake Corum

Team 4: Luther Burden

I was sniped again in this amazing draft! Originally I wanted to draft Kirk because of his performance during Wild Card Weekend! He had 8 receptions for 144 yards and 1 touchdown! Nico Collins also went down with a concussion, which puts his status for the Divisional Round in jeopardy. The next best addition is Jayden Higgins in my opinion. Someone is going to have to step up in this offense, and I think both Higgins and Kirk could be in line for a good day.

Round 8

Team 4: Brandin Cooks

Team 3: Colby Parkinson

KV: AJ Barner

Team 1: Troy Franklin

One last thing to say … GO HAWKS!! And AJ Barner!!

Final Team

QB: Matthew Stafford

RB: Rhamondre Stevenson

RB: Woody Marks

WR: Jaxon Smith-Njigba

WR: Courtland Sutton

TE: AJ Barner

FLEX: Khalil Shakir

FLEX: Jayden Higgins
