Rest of Season Guillotine Leagues™ Rankings Week 2: Bijan Robinson is Tops, Jahmyr Gibbs Falls
Geoff UIrich presents the rest of season rankings for Guillotine Leagues, entering Week 2 of the fantasy football season.
As we move through the season, we’ll be providing rest-of-season Guillotine Leagues™ rankings that will continue to update every week. These in-season rankings can be found on the app in Guillotine Leagues under “rank” when you are drafting.
Since the ranks update every week, using them will allow you to adjust quickly to in-season variance when starting up a new, in-season league on guillotineleagues.com.
Of course, if you’re still involved in a league that started at Week 1, the rankings will also have tons of value. They’ll be a great assist in helping you navigate the big names on the waiver wire every week.
As always, you can pair the advice here with the fantasy football rankings, projections and other cool tools available with a Fantasy Life+ subscription (Use code “GRIND” for 20% off).
Rest of Season Guillotine Leagues Rankings Week 2
Week 1 had its share of injuries, but there was a lot going on in terms of usage and production (good and bad) to note and lots of movement in the ranks.
Let’s see who got the biggest bumps (and who fell the most) this week.
Week 1 Risers Running Backs
Bijan Robinson, Falcons
Despite averaging just 2.0 yards per carry and accumulating 24 rushing yards, Robinson still got a bump for Week 2 and is now first in the in-season rankings. That’s because the guy can catch!
Robinson led all Falcons’ pass catchers in Week 1 with 6 receptions and 100 yards, most of which came on a 50-yard TD early in the game vs. the Buccaneers. With Atlanta’s top two WRs now banged up, the Falcons are only going to use Robinson more going forward, and his ability to catch the ball makes him game-flow proof—and provides better built-in safety for Guillotine League formats in the short term.
With a solid first outing and some great short-term tailwinds, he gets the deserved No. 1 spot in the ranks.
Javonte Williams, Cowboys
Via the Fantasy Life Utilization Report, Williams led the Cowboys with a 71% rush rate and, more importantly, took all the crucial snaps for Dallas in Week 1. He had a 100% I5 (Inside the 5) rush rate and played on 100% of the LDD (Long Down and Distance) and two-minute offense snaps.
You won’t get 2 TDs every week, but Williams deserved a big bump in the ranks for the Guillotine League format, and he got it. He moved all the way to 73rd in the ranks, from the 120-130 position previously.
His usage should continue to be stellar going forward, given his great Week 1 performance and the lack of legit talent behind him on the depth chart.
Week 1 Fallers Running Backs
Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions
Gibbs and the Lions' offense had a tough Week 1. Their O-Line was under siege all day, and it really halted Gibbs from getting any momentum as he averaged an uncharacteristic 2.1 YPC and 3.1 yards per catch. The 10 catches were nice, but you can’t count on that sort of targeting every week.
The fact that David Montgomery remains heavily involved and actually out-carried Gibbs 11-9 is also a going concern. He’s still got weekly blowup potential, but his move down to 11 and out of the top 10 signals that his floor may not be as safe as once thought.
De’Von Achane, Dolphins
Achane was hovering in the mid-teens in the ranks before Week 1, but moved down considerably and outside the top 20 after the Dolphins' poor Week 1 showing, where they managed just 133 yards passing.
The production wasn’t terrible in Week 1 for Anchane, who managed to find the end zone in garbage time, but the fact that he managed only 10 touches is very concerning.
He’ll continue to be the Dolphins' lead back, but with the state of their offense, he’s not the safe fantasy bet people assumed he was at the start of the season.
Week 2 Risers Wide Receivers
Cee Dee Lamb, Cowboys
Lamb was a top-5 pick to begin the season, but the big Week 1 and bullish usage stats move him to No. 2 overall in our Week 2 ranks. Even with the Cowboys bringing in another alpha WR in George Pickens, Lamb still managed a 41% target share and 110 yards on 7 receptions (13 targets) vs. the Eagles, a line that also included a couple of uncharacteristic drops.
Dallas projects to be a mediocre running team without a great pass rush, so more games like this for Lamb are coming.
Week 2 Fallers Wide Receivers
Nico Collins, Texans
It’s safe to say Collins was likely on a lot of first-week losers this year in the Guillotine League format. The Texans' lead WR was a consensus top-10 pick for most people, but saw just 5 targets in Week 1, posting a meager 3 receptions and 25 yards.
He still led all Texans WRs with a 19% target share, and he’s still the clear lead target in this offense, but the bigger issue may be the Texans' O-Line, which looked atrocious once again, and kept C.J. Stroud from finding Collins downfield on most plays.
He falls all the way to 20th in the Week 2 rankings and looks like far more of a potential boom or bust prospect for fantasy than previously thought.
Jameson Williams, Lions
So much for the Lions “unleashing” Jameson Williams. The newly signed WR saw 5 targets in Week 1, but his usage was limited to shorter routes, and he managed just 4 receptions for 23 yards in a game where the Lions trailed from the get-go.
The good news is that Williams isn’t going to be facing the Packers every week, with a pass that rush limited the time Jared Goff had to throw downfield. The bad news is that the O-Line could be a longer-term issue for Detroit that limits Williams more than we initially thought.
Regardless, he gets a deserved bump down for now, falling out of the top 50 down to 64th in Week 2.
Week 2 Risers Quarterbacks
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
Mahomes is up to 54th in the rankings this week, ahead of Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield. It’s warranted.
On top of showing a little better fitness with his great rushing performance in Week 1 (57 yards), the Chiefs' defense looked much more vulnerable than it has in past seasons vs. the Chargers. That should lead to more dropbacks and games where Mahomes is forced to throw 35+ times.
It may not be as pretty as it was in the past, but Mahomes looks headed back to being a potential top-5 fantasy QB and someone to lean on in the Guillotine League format.
Justin Herbert, Chargers
Herbert had a fantastic Week 1. He averaged 9.8 yards per attempt and tore apart a revered defense for 318 yards and 3 TDs, while adding in solid 32 rushing yards on 7 carries. With a ton of talent at WR all of a sudden and a coach who trusts him to sling the ball against elite defenses, a blue sky breakout for Herbert seems to be on tap for the rest of the season.
Previously going well past 100, he’s now up to 79th and looks like a weekly start you can rely on for Guillotine Leagues as well.
Week 2 Fallers Quarterbacks
Bryce Young, Panthers
Young was terrible against the Jaguars and struggled again with turnovers, as he threw two picks and lost a fumble.
That’s exactly the kind of thing you want your QB to avoid in Guillotine Leagues, where turnovers lose you multiple points and can potentially be the difference between advancing and getting chopped. Alas, Young doesn’t seem likely to make up the difference this year with a ton of TD passes either, as his lack of receiving options outside of Tetairoa McMillan hurts his upside going forward.
Young has fallen outside the top 200 in our ranks and essentially has little to no value in Guillotine formats at this point.
Week 2 Risers Tight Ends
Tyler Warren, Colts
Warren showed out with elite usage stats in Week 1. Via the Utilization Report, the rookie took a team-high 31% target share and converted 9 targets into 7 receptions and 76 yards. Going forward, he looks set to act as the 1 or 1A option in this offense alongside Michael Pittman, giving him plenty of upside going forward.
Accordingly, Warren is one of the biggest movers in the rankings as well. Previously going well after pick 100, he’s now firmly inside the top 80 at pick 77 and seems likely to see more upward movement if his usage from Week 1 continues.
Week 2 Fallers Tight Ends
George Kittle, 49ers
Kittle was placed on IR by the 49ers after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1. It’s frustrating if you own him, but with the unforgiving nature of Guillotine Leagues, you have to be aware of how that affects his value going forward.
His initial Week 2 ranking of 67 was given out before he landed on the IR, so keep that in mind when ranking him among TEs this week, because he’s going to be a zero for at least the next four weeks.
Some potential Kittle replacements (or names to target in in-season drafts) include Kyle Pitts, Dallas Goedert and Tucker Kraft, who all saw decent bump-ups in the rankings after posting solid Week 1s.
