Week 16 Most Chopped: Are You Bidding Up For Jahmyr Gibbs in Guillotine Leagues™️?
Adam Ronis examines the most chopped players in Guillotine Leagues ahead of the Week 16 waiver wire, highlighted by Jahmyr Gibbs and more.
| At this time in Guillotine Leagues™, the remaining teams are stacked. The budgets are likely low and every decision is critical to avoid being chopped. Many weeks there are a plethora of appealing options on the waiver wire, but this week’s most chopped players come with risk. Massive injuries have changed the fantasy landscape in recent weeks, especially in Week 15 with Patrick Mahomes tearing his ACL. The most-chopped player was Jahmyr Gibbs. It’s shocking to see Gibbs here for the second time in three weeks. Since Week 10, Gibbs has had 3 TDs every other game and games of 11.6 and 9.8 in PPR in between. Gibbs rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries and caught 4 passes for 20 yards against the Rams. He is by far the best player in the Top 10 chopped players and deserves an aggressive bid. Always make sure to check the remaining budget of the opponents to make the proper bid. The Lions are battling to make the playoffs and Gibbs should see a massive workload against the Steelers, who have allowed four running backs to rush for at least 95 yards in the last six games. De’Von Achane had 18 touches for 127 yards on Monday against Pittsburgh. Second on the list is Brock Bowers. The Raiders offense has crushed Bowers and Kenny Pickett starting last week didn’t help. He passed for 64 yards and Bowers had 6 catches for 28 yards on 8 targets. Las Vegas faces the best defense in the NFL in Houston and while they allowed 134 yards to Trey McBride last week, Bowers doesn’t have Jacoby Brissett throwing him the football. Bowers isn’t worth a bid. Next is George Pickens, who has disappeared the last two games. Pickens was a difference maker for most of the season with at least 12.2 PPR points in 11 straight games before 8 catches for 70 yards on 15 targets the last two weeks. Pickens is a free agent and needs to finish strong. Pickens gets a difficult matchup this week against the Chargers, who allow the fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers. He gets a better matchup against Washington on Christmas and is worth a small bid for that matchup. Derrick Henry is fourth and is dependent on touchdowns since he’s barely involved in the passing game. He hasn’t scored in the last two games and has 10 and 10.4 PPR points. The Ravens play the Patriots this week and they were one of the best run defenses for a long stretch to begin the season, but they haven’t been as good lately. They have allowed two 100-yard rushing games in two of the last three games. Henry is a small bid if you really need a running back. A.J. Brown is next and has been on the list several times this season. After three straight 100-yard games, Brown had two targets, catching both for 41 yards with a TD. The Eagles dominated the Raiders and the starters sat in the fourth quarter. Brown has a great matchup against the Commanders and is a target to add. Bucky Irving is sixth and the instant reaction is to add. There are some concerns, though. Sean Tucker got all the goal-line work last week and Irving had a 35% route participation. Irving had 16.1 PPR points in each of the first two games back from injury and scored a TD in both. Last week without a score, he had 8.1 points. Irving has a good matchup against Carolina and is worth an add, but the floor is lower. While Davante Adams normally would be an aggressive bid, he’s dealing with a hamstring injury. He hasn’t been officially ruled out for Thursday yet, but we know he’s not playing. He could miss more than one week. A $1 bid for the bench is optimistic. Jaylen Waddle, Rashee Rice and R.J. Harvey round out the list. While Waddle has matchups against the Bengals and Buccaneers, he has 8.2 points or fewer in three of the last four games and is risky. Rice has a lower floor with Gardner Minshew at QB and Harvey is an add as the feature back in Denver, getting 16, 23 and 19 touches, respectively, with 4 TDs the last three games. |
